This game character is based on the mental health term "orchid". An "orchid" is someone who thrives in positive environments, but struggles when presented wth difficult situations which refers to the fragility of an orchid flower. 
As the player completes each level, a new bud is added to the orchid which illustrates the growth that occurs from everyday struggles. 
The player must explore each level and collect all the water drops. Each level explores different environments and provides a variety of difficult challenges. 
The goal is a flower pot to signify the Orchid player's growth.
I created a set of art assets that are used throughout the levels. I originally had three backgrounds, but once I began adding the assets to Unity I realized that it was easier to work in "layers" like Photoshop instead of scaling a background that already had a sky and ground. In the end I went with the blue sky and the grass with brown dirt underneath to create my background images as seen in the video.
In other levels I introduce a darker theme to emphasize the struggles during low points in mental health. At first I was going to redraw each asset, but then I realized I could apply a darker shade with lower opacity and keep the look of the game consistent.
I applied the same technique as the cliff above to the other assets. I created a ground that had a misty-like effect and added some basic-shaped trees to portray a dark, forest. This background was created to emphasize the feeling of being lost.
